The importance of washing your face cannot be underestimated in maintaining healthy skin, reducing redness and preventing premature aging of cells. However, it is not always obvious how to do this correctly. Questions arise easily… Should I clean my face every day? If yes, how many times per day? Should I favor a particular product? Can I just use soap? Is it really necessary if I hydrate my skin well daily? In summary, if there is one step that should not be neglected in your routine to obtain radiant and healthy skin, it is cleaning your face. Let’s demystify it now!

First of all, you should know that facial cleansing should be a mandatory step in the morning and evening. When you get up, it eliminates dead cells, sweat and sebum produced during the night. Before bed, it frees the skin from dirt, bacteria and makeup, preparing it to rest and regenerate. Here are the 3 simple steps of a healthy routine to adapt.
STEP #1 – MOISTEN YOUR FACE WITH WARM WATER
First of all, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before starting your skincare routine, to prevent bacteria or germs from contaminating your skin. Next, tie your hair back or use a headband to ensure no area of your face is missed. It is not recommended to use hot water to wash your face as it can have adverse effects on your skin. This is because hot water can cause dehydration by stripping away the skin's natural protective oils. This can cause a feeling of tightness, redness and increased dryness of the skin. Additionally, dehydrated skin can become dry, dull and rough, and fine lines and wrinkles may be more visible due to loss of elasticity and suppleness. Dehydrated skin is also more prone to redness, inflammation and blemishes because it has difficulty regenerating properly.
STEP #2 – CLEANSE YOUR FACE
Apply a small amount of cleanser to the palms of your hands, on a washcloth or cotton pad, then gently massage your face using light pressure and circular motions. For cleansing to be as beneficial as possible, it is crucial to use a formula adapted not only to our preferences, but especially to those of our skin since there are several skin types! As a general rule, it is not recommended to wash your face with soap, as this can damage the skin and dry out sensitive skin. Do not hesitate to consult a skin care professional to choose the right product for your skin.
STEP #3 – RINSE YOUR FACE
If necessary, rinse with lukewarm or cold water, then gently pat your face dry with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing vigorously, especially if your skin is sensitive or acne-prone.
